Don't Be Another Sucker Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing is more and more, full of people looking to earn some quick cash without any work. Somewhere along the line, people read an e-book on making money online, which tells them that affiliate marketing gets a good return on money and it’s that easy to get into. Just for clarity, I personally think affiliate marketing is a great way to start internet marketing. It provides a good base for people willing to learn, and you get a lot of data very quickly. But most start with a list of a couple hundred keywords, a couple ad variations and one ad group; anyone in internet marketing for more than 2 months knows that’s not going to cut it.

The majority of affiliate marketers aren’t successful and give Google millions of dollars a year without any return in affiliate commissions. The problem doesn’t lie with the philosophy of affiliate marketing, that is, you advertise another person’s product and for every one they sell, you get a percentage of the sale. The problem is that, the majority of people don’t know anything to do with marketing, selling, or advertising. Learning how to sell something could take one person 2 days and another 2 years.

But the secret to affiliate success is much the same to business success, creative marketing tactics, clever promotional information and optimization for your target audiences. Pay per click advertising is the way the majority of people swing when it comes to affiliate marketing, and it does work, when you know what you’re doing.

Affiliate marketing courses are plentiful, every tom, dick and harry have created a course on how to succeed in affiliate and internet marketing. And all of them are rubbish. Ok, that was a bit harsh, not all are completely awful, just most of them. A person succeeds in internet marketing by fluke and writes a book on exactly how to internet market, without any testing or real hard evidence, then sells it for $39.95. So how do you tell which of them are absolute rubbish and which are useful information? Well, look at as many free informational sites as you can until you gather a general knowledge of both affiliate marketing and pay per click advertising. There are some great resources that are free on PPC and some really friendly forums where you can learn about affiliate marketing. I’m not saying don’t buy any books, but just research to see if the person knows there stuff first.

The thing that you have to know is, most of the people that succeed quickly at affiliate marketing have a background in advertising, marketing, or copy writing. Occasionally someone with no experience will make a lot of money because they brainstorm and really thinking about the task at hand. These people are naturally successful and approach every situation the same way, with research, patience and accept the risk of losing money.

Don't be a sucker affiliate marketer. Do your research. Be patient. Learn from every source of information you can and apply it to your campaign as soon as you can.
