We all want traffic to our websites but, where do I generate it? My first pick is google adwords. Though
its a sure way to get traffic it always seems to cost me more than I really want to pay. You ever have to keep increasing your bids? I hate it.
I guess if you really have to get traffic, google adwords is the way to go. But, I would much rather have
free traffic. Now that I decided I would rather have free traffic I'd better get to work. Getting no cost traffic means getting my website updated. First I will make sure my title has an effective keyword something common enough for viewers to search. The closer the match to what viewers are looking for the better are the chances my site will rank well. Most of my keywords will not be the top keywords but anything I can use in the the middle searches as it will be easier to rank well.
Now text links can help my rankings also. A site map needs to be in place and I need some links pointing back to my site from a good website. One thing we must do to get links back to our site is contact other site owners. Be sure to complement their site and mention what appeals to you about it. Before asking them to exchange links. Showing an interest in their site and explaining how you both can benefit from a link
exchange will usually get positive response.
Articles are the biggest factor in my opinion we need them for our site and for article submissions. I don't use the same articles on my site. The ones I post on article sites are different from the ones on my site. The reason behind this is that I want the original article to be indexed on my site first. So I write a similar article with just a few changes in it.
Writing articles is probably the easiest way to get links back to your site. If you get this right your site can get very popular and traffic will start to flow. Posting on forums can get you a lot of traffic, but make sure you follow their rules. Solving problems for others can be very rewarding. They will get to know you as an expert and visit your site.
These are some of the methods I use and they are good for the long term. I check my keywords, work on getting more links and continue writing articles. And as far as articles go, use them in your e-mails and ezines. Always try and benefit from your articles anywhere you can.
