Two most important things for a happy jobless life

The two most important things for a happy jobless life are, in my opinion, health and happiness. Those are the two which you should choose out of the ten important things if life that I listed out.

You should be aware that, if you have a choice, all ten items listed are important, but if forced to choose, to be happily jobless, you should select the above two. Please give it a thought. So often we misplace our priorities. To help you see things clearer, let's go through the remaining eight items that did not make the cut.
  1. Fame
You don't require fame to be happily jobless. Often fame can be a distraction and a nuisance. Being able to maintain a low profile in itself can be a source of happiness.

  2. Family
Family is important, and it ranks very high in the list. If I had a chance to choose the three or four most important things in my life, I would have included family. But since I can only choose two, I have to put health and happiness at the top of my list.
Now this is something for you to consider: health, happiness and family. Which is the least important of the three? If you ever lose your whole family, will you never again be healthy and happy? There are many people in this world, who not by their own will, have lost their entire family. But somehow, they have to accept their loss, and continue on seeking health and happiness.

  3. Friends
Friends are just as important as health, happiness and family. Once again, because you are forced to choose only two items, you have to take health and happiness.

  4. Good looks
Looks never last. If you choose good looks as one of the two most important things in your life, you are not ready for a happy jobless life. Between health and happiness, which would you forgo for good looks? If you forgo health, are you willing to be sick and beautiful; and if you forgo happiness, are you willing to be sad and beautiful, for all your life?

  5. Intelligence
It's good to have intelligence. I would rank it right after family and friends, but not as one of the two most important things in life. I would rather forgo intelligence in order to preserve my health and happiness. Of course, this sounds ridiculous, this is an exercise to sharpen your reasoning.

  6. Long Life
Who doesn't want long life? How can it not be the most important thing in life itself? Yes indeed, having a long life is important, but is it worth having a long life where you are sick the whole time, and miserable the whole time? While long life if very important, given a choice, I would rather stay healthy and happy. Does that mean I would be willing to accept a shorter life? Yes, if its one filled with health and happiness. So how would it be possible to have a short, healthy life? Perhaps I was happily walking down the street one day and a tree falls on my head, and I'm done.

  7. Respect
Respect from other people is important. This sense of recognition makes us feel wanted. But is respect as important as, say, happiness? Would you prefer a sad life where people respect you, or a happy one even if nobody does? Respect is important, but health and happiness much more.

  8. Work
For the happy jobless guy, work is the least important aspect of life, particularly if you have to work from hand to mouth. But don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you should be a lazy, unproductive person. Rather I am saying the act of earning a living should not overwhelm living itself. A happy jobless person pursues activities that allows him to lead a healthy, happy, productive life.
